NBL Aquaculture Series

Aquaculture Probiotics

From 2005, NBL team have isolated a number of potential strains to improve aquaculture environment.New bacteria species selected form wild aquatic alimentary canal and ocean current, combines the advantages of both in nitrifying and heterotrophic bacteria.Several species can efficiently decompose orange pollutants and has strong ability in eliminating harmful ammonia and nitrite in salty water. In addition, they can inhibit pathogenic bacteria by competing resource and reduces the possibility of disease. For keeping stable water aqulity and safe aquaculture environment, NBL biotics are reliable choice.

NBL1

NBL1, a gram-negative bacteria selected form wild aquatic alimentary canal, combines the advantages of both in nitrifying and heterotrophic bacteria.NBL1 can efficiently decompose orange pollutants and has strong ability in eliminating harmful ammonia and nitrite in salty water. In addition, NBL1 inhibits pathogenic bacteria by competing resource and reduces the possibility of disease. For keeping stable water aqulity and safe aquaculture environment, NBL1 is a reliable choice.

NBL2

“NBL2” comes from pure coral paradise with warm Kuroshio currents.NBL team screen it out and find its ability to deal with organic wastes (including ammonia and nitrite) in fresh and salty water.Extracellular secretion of NBL2 can inhibit fish pathogen, such as Vibrio, and enhance non-specific immune defense in shrimp and trout.Because of functional versatility, NBL2 is very suitable for aquaculture as a microbial agents.

NBL3

Photosynthetic bacteria (PSB) is a class of bacteria widely distributed in fields, rivers, oceans and soils. In addition to purification of water quality, further study found that photosynthetic bacteria rich in nutrients ( the protein content more than soy, vitamin B group more than yeast), so it evidently promotes the growth rate of fish and shrimp.NBL team screens out special salt-tolerant(euryhaline) photosynthetic bacteria “NBL3”.IN the salty-water environment, NBL3 has a stable performance in degradation of hydrogen sulfide and the dirt in bottom.NBL3 is more efficient than traditional PSB and more suitable for aquaculture.

NBL4

Taiwan was a country renowned for its world-leading production of tiger prawns for export to Japan during 1980-1987. The outbreak of white spot syndrome (WSS) a viral disease caused the collapse of the industry in 1987. WSS is currently incurable and NBL Lab has undertaken the leading research in finding and developing a vaccine. We used probiotics as a transporter carrying the envelope protein VP28 of the white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) as a type of vaccine. Our proprietary research discovered VP28 was present in the intestine of tiger prawns two days after administering the VP28 vaccine and in their muscles after 4 days. Thus Anti-WSSV can efficiently promote the immune system of tiger prawns and increase their survival rates.
